I normally mentioned, "life is like a book, how would you like to write, it really is what type of book. So our own attitude determines life. Not surprisingly, we will need to go through more meaningful publication, it can give us inspiration.

No, there is no difference between American or Canadian veterans as far as I am concerned in the St. John Valley. They are all individuals who are devoted to serving the needs of their country and all are fighting for the precious rights and freedoms we all process in our precious lives, willing to die for them if necessary.

Fighting for the rights and freedoms of their neighbors, fighting for the rights and freedoms of their families and fighting for the rights and freedoms in which their countries were founded on.

Got to tell you buddy, I sometimes wonder if our precious loved ones are fighting and dying in vain these days. We all know that money and power in the world we in live in today’s society sort of takes the honor out of the honorable.

They are not given all the needed medical services needed in appreciation of all they have done for their countries, all too often left to deal with their war injuries and means of support for their own families on their own.

They are marked man in many ways. It wasn't that long ago that many of them were on the terrorists list because they were trained to kill to perform a service for their country. Our Homeland Security leader is for some reason now fearing them as terrorists. It’s a crazy world we live in.

When even our vets can’t seem to find a form of loyalty in the government they were willing to die for, how can loyalty of any form be found anywhere else in this country. To me, this explains much of what we see happening at all levels in our society.

Loyalty is a huge commitment, when only one sided, all end up with nothing in the end, sad, but true. Then again, what do I know, I’m not a vet! But I do know what a serving veteran taught me as a child. He was one hell of a man.

As a matter a fact, he was one of the smartest men I ever knew. He understood loyalty, commitment and appreciation for all those who had served for American and Canadian armed forces. How he loved both countries! He was proud to have been born in Canada and served her, yet so American in his views and proud of those who had served and died for all American rights and freedoms. I guess he was simply a man who served his Canadian country as well as he could have, to the best of his ability, but fell in love with an America women, only to discover he also had an appreciation for the American Veterans of this country who had fought for the rights and freedoms he was enjoying at the time.

I guess we at the American, Canadian border seem to have that sort of appreciation and loyalty towards one another because of our upbringing in a sense. I am proud of the Dad I knew, he made sure to raise me with an appreciation for all those that served in both countries for the rights and freedoms that people got to live with and the privileges that both countries entitled us with. I look around at both these countries, so many sacrifices, so little appreciation on both sides.

This saddens me in many ways, how many of our loved ones have to die before it is appreciated! Do you know what it is like to lose a child? The answer is: Some know, because they have lost a child. There isn’t a thing they wouldn’t do to bring them back in some way. Others don’t know and judge their children harshly for not being able to deal with the emotional turmoil that their child may have suffered on his or her journey.
